Your Linux/Unix systems administration experience, clever solutions and ability to solve problems will be respected and appreciated by the rest of the team and customers. M5 Hosting has been providing dedicated server hosting services for more than 20 years. In addition to the dedicated server hosting M5 has an IaaS Cloud Hosting / Public Cloud service and offers colocation. M5's cloud business is growing. We operate in 4 Data Center facilities in San Diego, Europe, and Asia. More are coming.

As an Operations Support Specialist, you will work 40 hour per week shift. We need to fill two shifts, a swing shift in the evenings and a weekend 4x10hr graveyard shift. Other arrangements possible.

Your duties include:

  • Assume ownership of technical issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Respond to trouble tickets from customers and those generated M5’s monitoring tools.
  • Follow standard support procedures and accurately log ticket activity.
  • Work closely with other M5 team members and share knowledge with the entire team.
  • Monitor the health and status of M5’s cloud infrastructure.
  • Provisioning equipment in our data centers for new sales.
  • Work specific tasks within the San Diego data center facilities frequently, but can work remote most of the time.
  • On call rotation may be assigned.
To be successful in this role, you need:

  • Customer service skills (communicate with mostly other IT pros).
  • Analytical problem solving skills.
  • In depth knowledge of Linux and Windows (the vast majority of our servers run Linux).
  • Excellent English Language skills (written and spoken)
  • TCP/IP Networking experience a plus.
  • Cloud and virtualization experience a plus.
  • Can complete on-line technical training courses and certifications.

  • Reliably work your shift responding to events and customer requests.
  • Follow M5 procedures and participate in recurring maintenance and normal operations procedures.
  • Actively try to improve and expand your knowledge and experience.
Compensation: 

DOE, plus medical, retirement plan and Paid Time Off, training and education plan.
